GP summary on USSR

Moscow revolution

Gorbachev attempted to change stiff structure of previous leadership approach in heading Soviet Union. While he meant good in forging closer ties with other countries, critics of his country did not feel the same towards the change.
He received the Chinese’s reluctant response in his trip to China. Gorbachev, however was understandable but still insisted in changing the China’s communist system even after riots held at the Tiananmen Square. Then,in a trip to Germany, he received a warm welcome from East Germans. They crowded the area to welcome him thus he was not worried about the loss in communism in the middle of Europe. In conclusion, Gorbachev’s reforms, although well intended, were too sudden and were not well planned. Therefore, these reforms despite being welcomed by both the Soviet Union and the western countries were unable to bring about the outcome expected by Gorbachev and subsequently led to the fall of the Soviet Union.
